Military Affairs Committee

The Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) is committed to strengthening relationships between the local business community and military personnel and their families – partnerships that are mutually beneficial.

Events & Programs

  • John C. Beitz Service Person of the Quarter Awards
  • Annual Military Family Fishing Fun Day
  • Annual Military Fun Day at the Cape
  • Veterans Day Parade participation
  • Annual Cookies for the Troops holiday cookie drive
  • Annual MCAS Cherry Point tour for MAC members

The MAC’s annual program of work is supported by Chamber members who make financial contributions to the MAC as Star Sponsors and the volunteers who plan and execute each event.

USCG SK1 Candice Collins won Service Person of the Quarter for her dedication to community service.

Membership

The MAC offers several ways for community members and local businesses to give back to the military community. Members help steer the MAC’s fundraising and outreach strategy, solicit community support, and become sponsors themselves. They are also eligible for special programs like base tours and invitation only events, and are acknowledged on our website and business directory as military supporters.

Membership is free for active duty military personnel.

Basic Membership

MAC membership is only open to Chamber Members. Dues are $25 annually per individual member.

Star Sponsorship

Star Sponsors are the largest source of funding for the MAC’s free military events and Service Person of the Quarter program. Star Sponsorships include 1 to 5 individual memberships depending on sponsorship level. Sponsorship is a great option for organizations who want to get several employees involved with the MAC.

Meetings & MAC News

The MAC meets at 0900 am on the first Friday of the month at the Chamber office. MAC members in good standing are invited to attend meetings. Typical meetings include updates from Marine Corps and Coast Guard leadership, MAC development and strategy discussion, and, often, updates from local military organizations like the Veterans Coalition. Meetings are a great way to not only stay in the know, they’re also a great way to network with other community-minded military supporters.

If you can’t attend meetings, but still want to stay in the loop, sign up for MAC’s email newsletter. Newsletters include updates from meetings and information about various military and veterans affairs and activities. We typically send 2-3 emails per month.

The MAC delivered 10,000 cookies to local military installments in 2023 as part of Cookies for the Troops.
